More about my kitchen...
Zu's Kitchen (my kitchen) is located in the beautiful and bountiful Okanagan Valley in British Columbia. I was born in Singapore, lived there for about 22 years and spent almost another twenty living in Europe. I grew up eating and loving food with spices, sauces and flavor from three distinct ethnic origin - Malay, East Indian and Chinese. In Europe my passion for food and cooking was further ignited as I discovered the use of wine, cheese and fine European spices and fresh herbs as I serve European cuisine as part of my catering company's business.
My last 6 years have been spent running a restaurant and catering here in the valley. I have recently sold my share of the business and decided to concentrate on preparing good spices and sauces that can enhance meat and fresh, live vegetables.
My foods are MSG free. I use fresh herbs whenever possible and use grain spices which I grind myself. I use a lot of traditional oriental herbs like lemon grass, ginger, galgant and cilantro which on their own have a lot of medicinal value. Grain spices like coriander, cumin, tumeric, fennel, cardamoms are used in East Indian and Malaysian curry powder and in my some of my soups and frozen curries.
I love working with vegetables, salads and tofu and would like to see my dressings and sauces as a convenient alternative in our busy lives to support our enjoyment of eating our own home cooked meals or live, enzyme intact whole foods. If frozen food is our alternative, sometimes, I would like to offer food prepared in a clean environment, made with fresh ingredients, herbs and spices of medicinal value.
Enjoy!
